New California Gun Laws

SB 53 Background checks and a $50 fee to be allowed to purchase ammunition

SB 374 Would ban the purchase and manufacture of semi-automatic rifles with a detachable magazine. This is mostly already in effect but with a few loopholes and workarounds and this aims to close the issue. They grandfathered existing arms in, because ignoring so would likely cause it to fail, but like the existing CA ban it won’t let you transfer them to anyone in CA by sale or will.

Bullet buttons would become regulated, by the modern definition, not the 200 year old one.

All in all most of the laws already exist, but with loopholes and special cases they seek to end.

“All the bills next go to the Assembly for consideration.”
